It is essential when maintaining a blog that it is regularly updated. This one hasn’t been updated for almost 6 months but it’s okay as we asked the Internet owners not to change anything until we were ready!

Our next Searching the Net session is tomorrow and we’ve had to make a few tweaks to the slideshow – see the updated version under Links. A couple of notable changes are

Ask.com is now Ask Jeeves again, at least in the UK
Live Search is now Bing and has a very attractive homepage

This is our first session since starting the blog so we’ll post a report afterwards to let you know how it went.

MelZoo

MelZoo is a new search engine which splits the results screen into two panes. Hover over a site on the left hand pane and see the web page displayed on the right hand pane. It’s easier to try than describe! Just click on the logo…

Intelways

Intelways is a website which we have promoted during our courses. It is an interface which groups together dozens of different search engines and tools. You only need to type in your search terms once and then use the various resources to obtain the desired results.

When we tried to access it a couple of days ago the URL linked to a holding page on GoDaddy.com. We have subsequently discovered that the Intelways.com domain name ownership expired on 3rd Jan and was not renewed.

The good news is that the site still exists but under the new guise of Browsys Powersearch. The PowerPoint presentation will be updated shortly to reflect this change.
